25th Costume Designers Guild Awards

CDGA

This year marked the 25th anniversary of the CDGA and it is the one night a year that designers spend together celebrating their work and their contemporaries.

Challenge & Insight

NVE’s Experiential Publicity Department ran a 5–month campaign to develop and execute a strategic communications and publicity plan for the 25th Costume Designers Guild Awards. We were tasked with helping generate positive media coverage, garnering excitement, controlling messaging, and driving media attention to the 25th anniversary of the award show. NVE’s PR team had worked on the show in years prior. However, knowing the company’s internal resources, were able to bring in the production team to produce the event itself. Both teams (production and PR) were tasked to create an unforgettable experience to celebrate the costume designers for their annual awards ceremony and highlight the nominees, honored guests, media, talent and attendees for one special evening.

Solution

Hosted by Tituss Burgess, the 25th CDGA featured a first-class list of presenters, honorees and memorable acceptance speeches. NVE worked internally with the production teams to strategically rethink the red-carpet layout inside of the new ballroom venue and media positions on an innovative, double sided step and repeat. With a streamlined vision, NVE credentialed top tier media outlets for onsite coverage on the red carpet and inside of the show. In addition to working on pre and post show coverage plans, NVE handled media confirmations, credentialing, and additional assistance with talent teams leading up to the show. Immediately following the 25th CDGA, NVE helped draft and distribute the winner’s announcement and post-recap release which included event highlights and links to photo and video content from the EPK.

Results

  • NVE’s media credentialing resulted in an intentional arrivals line that provided talent with a relaxed experience without bottleneck and filled the carpet with select media for meaningful interview opportunities.
  • We created a comprehensive coverage grid outlining all press hits throughout their engagement on the campaign. For each hit, the team strategically tracked and calculated media impressions. The overall campaign generated over 8 billion media impressions exceeding last year’s results by over 50%. Successful placements included, Vanity Fair, People, InStyle, Variety, EXTRA, Yahoo!, The Hollywood Reporter, W Magazine, Deadline, and more.
